Harold Hill’s Community Fun Day has been hailed as the best event of the summer, with residents now calling for a winter edition.

The event, led by Chief Inspector Charlie Routley and his dedicated team from Havering Police, drew thousands to Central Park on Saturday. This year’s celebration was even bigger and better than last year, with residents telling The Havering Daily just how much they enjoyed the day and asking for a winter version!

The atmosphere was buzzing as officers mingled with families, showcasing true community policing at its finest. Stalls lined the park, representing local groups, charities, and initiatives. A highlight for many was the appearance of the police helicopter. Ripu from The Fat Pizza in Elm Park, was also at the event and generously handed out her famous and much loved pizzas to delighted crowds.

One resident messaged to say: “This was the best day Harold Hill has had in years. It really brought everyone together, let’s have more of these please!”

Chief Inspector Routley told The Havering Daily:

“Our Harold Hill Community Fun Day on Saturday has been a huge success and it was a real joy to see so many people from the local community join us. The feedback has been amazing and it was great to see residents from across Havering coming together to enjoy the day, especially after the success from last year’s event.

Bringing families together like this is vital as we look to continue working together to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and rebuild trust in the Metropolitan Police Service. There is an amazing community spirit here in Harold Hill and events like today help to galvanise that and build that real sense of community spirit and pride in the area.

I would like to thank RM3 Events, Harold Hill Deer Aid and The Deers Rest for their help in planning and making this event happen. Also to all of the different service providers, such as Havering Council, London Fire Brigade, St John’s Ambulance, Youth Unity, Box Up Crime, Air Network and many others who gave up their time to support us.

Plans are already underway for next year’s event so keep an eye out for details of our 2026 date.”

The event highlighted just how well Havering Police do community policing.

As the summer sunshine fades, residents are already asking: could Harold Hill be the host of a brand-new Winter Fun Day? Well done Mr Routley and team! This was an outstanding day and we now hope to see a winter fun day!
