Special Centenary Celebration As Andrew Rosindell M.P. Joins Councillors to Honour Gladys on Her 100th Birthday.
A momentous occasion took place in Collier Row last week as local resident Gladys Hayden celebrated her 100th birthday surrounded by well-wishers — including a surprise visit from Romford’s Member of Parliament, Andrew Rosindell.
To honour Mrs. Hayden’s centenary, Mr. Rosindell was joined by local councillors Dilip Patel and Carol Smith at her home last Monday. The visit was full of warmth and respect as the dignitaries presented Gladys with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a congratulatory card, and a special portrait of His Majesty The King — a treasured keepsake for a remarkable milestone.
Andrew Rosindell M.P. praised Mrs. Hayden’s life and legacy, highlighting the importance of recognising those who have witnessed a century of local and national history.
“It was an honour to meet Mrs. Hayden on her 100th birthday. People like Gladys are part of the fabric of our community — having lived through so many incredible changes. It’s important we show appreciation for our older residents, and today was a moment to do just that.This is a remarkable milestone in Gladys’ life. Councillor Dilip Patel added:

Councillor Carol Smith echoed the sentiment:
“Meeting Gladys today was truly special. Her warmth and humour made it a joyful celebration for us all.”
Gladys, born in 1925, reflected on the many changes she’s seen over the decades. She was touched by the visit and the kind words shared in her honour.
The visit served not only as a tribute to Gladys’s longevity but also as recognition of those who have contributed so much across generations.
Mrs. Hayden, clearly touched by the visit, was all smiles as she enjoyed the company of her family, neighbours, and the community representatives who took time to mark her incredible achievement.
