Dagenham and Rainham MP Pays Tribute To John Prescott ‘A Giant Of The Labour Movement.’

Margaret Mullane, the Member of Parliament for Dagenham and Rainham, has paid tribute to John Prescott on the news of his death yesterday.

Margaret told the Havering Daily: “I was so sad to learn of the passing of John Prescott, a true titan of not just the Labour Party and the trade union movement but for the advancement of working people in Britain.

John came from working class roots and his entire life was devoted to improving the lives of working people as a fearless trade unionist and parliamentarian. He was an inspiration to me and so many other men and women to become involved in civic life and contribute to making Britain a fairer country.

We will miss him greatly. My thoughts are with his family, friends and the people of Hull, whom he represented in Parliament with great passion and care. His legacy lives on in his work in government and in promoting breaking down the barriers to working people from entering public life.”
