Hornchurch residents thank police officers for their swift action.
Residents living on Glebe Way, Patricia Drive and Burnway in Hornchurch have thanked police officers for their swift action yesterday following the concern over people knocking on doors claiming to be police officers in the area.
Reports of four people knocking on doors and asking for information had been flagged up stating they were police officers by those living on these adjoining roads.
Yesterday, 29 June members of the public called officers to state that these people had returned.
One Burnway resident told the Havering Daily:
“These people returned and several others had commented on the facebook group that they had also been visited by them stating that they were police officers.
“I contacted the police and they told me they would be there promptly. Three cars arrived with five minutes and began looking in the area and investigating what was going on.
“They were extremely helpful and began a thorough search of the people in question.
“I know a lot of residents were very pleased with how quickly the police responded and how thoroughly they began this investigation.
“There are so many scammers out there, sadly we do not know who is genuine and who is not anymore.”
Many thanks to officers from Havering Joint Task Force who were those who attended Glebe Way and Burnway yesterday and were able to confirm for residents that the people in question were genuine police officers.
