Police were called to a Harold Wood school yesterday (22 June) after a former pupil entered the premises and made their way into several year 7 classes and began being verbally abusive.

The incident happened at 8.25am as the former pupil refused to leave the premises and police had to be called.

It is believed that this is not the first time the former pupil has made their way on to school premises, prompting the Headteacher to write to parents informing them of the incident.

The letter states: “The young person who intruded engaged with several members of Year 7 and was most interested in entering Year 7 form classes. The intruder did manage to enter two classes.Students remained calm and some were moved to another room. Staff have been informed that should they feel the need to, they are able to lock the classrooms from inside, this was done to in some rooms affected by the disturbance.”

The letter also goes on to inform parents and carers that staff are trained on how to intervene physically if they need to.

A spokesperson for the Met police told the Havering Daily:

“Police were called at around 08:45 with regard to a former student who had attended the school; there was no knife or weapon. Officers attended and escorted this person away. No offences were committed”.

Not the first time this has happened in recent weeks. Perhaps safeguarding and Ofsted need to revisit the ‘Best school in the Borough’ keeping the children safe should be the number one priority.
