Residents living on Appleton Court in Hornchurch have been begging Havering Council for two years for a new bin for their block of flats as theirs has a hole that leaves huge parts of the rubbish falling through onto the floor.

The bin serves six flats and four flats across the other side of Appleton Court as they have no access to a bin.

One resident living on Appleton Court, reached out to the Havering Daily to see if we could help after two years of doing everything they could to access a new bin.

The resident told the Havering Daily: “For two years we have been in contact with Havering Council to try and get a new bin. Our management complay HML, last year also tried to get us a replacement and we even wrote to Hornchurch and Upminster MP Julia Lopez to see if she could help.

“I was told three months ago that a new bin was ordered and I have followed that up to see when the delivery will be, but so far no response.

“Myself and many residents have been desperately trying to get this bin now and every email we send is marked urgent, but no joy so far.”

The hole in the bin means the rubbish frequently falls out and leaves chaos all over the pavement.

A Havering Council spokesperson told the Havering Daily: “The Council have been working with the residents’ management agent at Appleton Court following the agent’s request for a replacement bin in April 2023. We are currently working with our supplier to replace the bin by the end of this week, we recommend residents contact their management agent for any further updates.”
