15,000 Trees Planted in Havering Thanks to Volunteers
The Trees for Havering campaign has wrapped up another successful planting season, having planted a total of 15.5k trees. The campaign’s last two events, held over the weekend, saw the planting of 1800 trees on Saturday and another 2500 trees on Sunday, bringing the season’s total to an impressive 15.5k trees.
Ross Elliott and Adam Ozbek, the event organisers, expressed their gratitude to all the volunteers who helped make the campaign a success. “We couldn’t have done it without our wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly to plant thousands of trees. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and dedication to the Trees for Havering campaign,” said Ross.

Adam added, “The campaign’s success would not have been possible without the support of Ahern Waste Management & Recycling Services, who sponsored the campaign, as well as the Havering Council, Belhus Woods Country Park, Stubbers Adventure Centre, the Rainham Riverside Bid, and the Pinches Trust for providing the land on which the trees were planted. The Woodland Trust, TCV – The Conservation Volunteers, and Truffle Trees Direct also contributed by providing the trees”.
The Trees for Havering campaign aims to create a greener and healthier environment in the borough of Havering by planting thousands of trees and improving air quality, biodiversity, and overall well-being. The benefits of planting trees in urban areas are numerous, from reducing air pollution to providing habitats for birds and insects.

The campaign’s success this season is a testament to the power of community action and the importance of taking small steps towards creating a more sustainable future. By planting trees, the campaign is not only improving the environment but also contributing to the fight against climate change.
