Despite the cold weather, on Saturday 10th of December, the Trees for Havering team of volunteers returned to the Hornchurch Country Park COVID Memorial for their third tree-planting event of the season where they managed to plant another 1000 trees.

Volunteers from across Havering and even groups from other boroughs, come together to help the campaign. One group, the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, is part of a wider community who are aiming to plant 100,000 trees.

Trees for Havering has now planted over 3000 new trees this season and will continue to hold events from the beginning of the new year.

Event organiser Ross Elliott told the Havering Daily,

“As always, I am very grateful to those who have attended the events so far. It is great to see new volunteers attending the events but it is also lovely to see volunteers return week on week to help us plant.’

‘I would like to thank Havering council, The Woodland Trust and The Conservation Volunteers.”

Details of the next events will be released in the next couple of weeks. Please get involved in future events if you can.
