Long live the King! Havering welcomes King Charles III.
At 2pm yesterday (Sunday 11 September) residents and their local councillors came to the Town Hall in Romford to hear the proclamation read by Havering Mayor Councillor Trevor McKeever to signify the start of a new era for the country-we welcome King Charles III.
Standing on the balcony, Councillor McKeever and his consort Wendy McKeever were joined by Havering’s leader of the council, Councillor Ray Morgon, Havering’s Chief Executive Andrew Blake-Herbert and the borough’s Deputy Lieutenant Nick Bracken OBE.
Councillor McKeever read out the proclamation, the crowd below then cheered ‘Long Live the King’ followed by three cheers for His Royal Highness King Charles and then finished with the National Anthem of God Save the King.
This was a very moving moment and Councillor McKeever was very emotional paying his respects to HM the Queen and all the incredible achievements she has accomplished as our longest serving Monarch.
We welcome our new King as a new era begins for Havering and the entire country.
