Kelly from Rainham is angry at the poor parking from parents dropping off or picking up children from Harris Academy.

Today she shares the ongoing issues in the area with Havering Daily readers.

I have lived at this address for almost 20 years. I knew there was a school when we moved in (I went to it) but there was hardly any car traffic. Since it has become an academy, every year the car problem has gotten worse.
We never officially know when the school finishes it changes on a daily basis but we have to try and time when to leave or come home in case we get caught up in this chaos.
There is 1 sign up and 1 yellow line and the teachers stand around outside but nothing is done about it. Grass verges are being ruined. Residents are being blocked in or have to listen to and smell idling cars outside their homes for sometimes up to an hour.
I have seen near misses between cars and between cars and pupils. Have also witnessed heated exchanges between car drivers who can not get down the roads or cars damaged.
This also happens outside school time. The school now host events. In the summer during the Jubilee celebrations they held an all day event on the Friday.  My road and surrounding roads were packed. No consideration for residents or people in general with bad and dangerous parking. A fire engine or ambulance would not have been able to squeeze through in some parts.
I am concerned that this is only going to get worse with the new 6th form being built at the old Chafford Sports Complex site . They have stated there is no extra parking spaces and some may be removed. Staff already park in the road and 17yr old students can drive. How are people going to get there? There is 1 bus route.

Havering Council has already stated the new leisure centre could not be built in place of the old leisure centre because there wasn’t enough public transport links,  so how do they think a college is appropriate?
In the the past I have spoken to the Head of Havering Council and Rainham Council representatives but was told, “it’s not illegal to idle” “there is nothing we can do” “no plans for this school to be looked at” or just completely ignored.
This part of Rainham has been neglected for a so long and the residents are just getting chaos dumped on them. What are we getting out of this apart from a headache?
