Councillor joins Eid celebrations marking Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Councillor Judith Holt was pleased to attend the Eid Celebration at the Havering Islamic Cultural Centre, Waterloo Road, Romford, last Saturday 21st May 2022. The gathering-together of hundreds of members of the community was a joint celebration of the end of Ramadan and to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Councillor for St. Alban’s Ward met Mr. Tariq Lone (Chairman), Major Pervez Badruddin (Secretary), Mr. Mohammad Saleem (Treasurer), other Trustees and many members of the local Muslim Community. She enjoyed visiting the stalls and chatting to everyone, after which she was asked to make a short speech and to cut the Jubilee cake.

Councillor Holt told the Havering Daily:

“This was the first Eid Party at the Mosque for three years and I was delighted to be back with them to celebrate! The HICC contributes such a lot to Romford, with their community projects like the Soup Kitchen and Food Bank, plus everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I look forward to continuing to visit and work with them.”
