Labour Beam Park candidate Trevor McKeever has been able to have the computers at the Mardyke Community Centre upgraded.

John Grant from the community centre told the Havering Daily:

“For some time now we have been trying to have our computers upgraded at the centre as they were running on windows Seven and so slow to respond, we were promised several times by people, that they would do this, unfortunately this did not happen.

“Since COVID hit, our income was almost zero making it near impossible to upgrade the computers. We mentioned this to Trevor Mckeever the Labour Candidate for Beam Park, and within a week Trevor had secured funding from a company to upgrade or computers. This is fantastic news as it will benefit all users of our computer suite and the residents of Orchard Village for many years to come.

“This is not the first time Trevor and Labour have helped us at the community centre, without Trevor working in conjunction with Jon Cruddas MP we would not have received the £20,000 grant from Clarion Futures which paid our bills through the COVID period and beyond. Without this money I do not think the community centre would have survived and would be closed today.

“Thank you, Trevor Mckeever for all you have done and continue to do for us at the Mardyke Community centre.”

Trevor Mckeever told the Havering Daily: “The community centre is the beating heart of Orchard village, it is vital to the residents of orchard village and the surrounding area. The centre is multifunctional and has many strings to its bow, it has a excellent programme of events and services, it is a place of help where residents can go for advice when things go wrong, the staff are amazing, so to be able to help the centre out by securing the funding to upgrade the computers was a pleasure.

“I would also like to thank the console Clinic in Elm Park for their help and efficient service.”
