The Havering Daily is running a list of the different candidates across Havering in preparation for the local elections on May 5.
Today we have Karen Bryan, an H.R.A Candidate for Squirrels Heath ward.
My name is Karen Bryan and I’m a candidate for the Havering Residents Association in the Squirrels Heath Ward where I have lived all my life.
I care about the area I live in and have seen it deteriorate for many reasons over the last couple of years. My family and I considered moving but then I thought, why should we, this used to be a pleasant community to live in which was safe, well looked after and clean. Why can’t it be again?
I’ve worked for a neighbouring Borough Council Barking and Dagenham Council for 28 years. During this time, I have gained extensive experience in all aspects of housing and communities. I know by using my skills and knowledge, I can work along with a great team to ensure that Squirrels Heath Ward is restored to a community where families want to live, bring up children, know that they are safe and are surrounded by well looked after streets, roads, and green spaces for us to enjoy!
Obviously, the Council has failed to prevent the area from deteriorating and I feel we need to create an alternative Council Administration to try and stop the rot. I have however no party-political background and don’t want to be part of a “point scoring” exercise against others but sorely need change. I’m an ordinary resident who wants to use my experience to support the residents in Squirrels Ward to the best of my ability. I’m approachable, proactive, and determined and I know I can make a difference.
