Climate change activists demand an action plan with ‘action’ in it.

Climate change activists from across Havering gathered yesterday Tuesday 7 December, outside the Town Hall in Romford to demand a Climate Change Action Plan with action in it.

Members of Havering’s Extinction Rebellion were joined by Havering Friends of the Earth, Havering Cyclists, Romford Quakers and councillors from Havering’s Residents Association yesterday evening to make their voices heard.

The peaceful protest was organised by Gina from Havering’s Extinction Rebellion in the hope that councillors would listen to their advice and work with them and other climate change organisations to help make the borough ‘greener’.

The activists are unhappy that local councillors have put together an action plan that has no action in it and that none of the climate change organisations were actually consulted. They are asking councillors to give local people the opportunity to have their say and to make a robust action plan that can make positive changes across the borough.

It might help if they knew where Havering is.

At least one of those banners starts with “Essex Needs”. It’s Havering town hall in Romford London they’re protesting outside. Nobody in that building can help Essex.
