Power cut strikes right across Havering,Grays, Lakeside and Basildon leaving thousands in darkness.

A power cut this afternoon (Saturday 20 November) just after 3:30pm has affected the whole of Havering Grays, Lakeside, and Basildon.

The power cut lasted for between 10-15 minutes and around thirty minutes for some parts of Harold Hill.

Traffic lights were out right across the areas above. Lakeside was evacuated with shoppers left in the car parks whilst the shops remained in complete darkness.

Thousands of properties were left without power.

The Havering Daily has contacted UK Power Networks to establish the reason for this power cut, we are currently waiting for a response.

We have been informed that one of the reasons for the power cut is that engineers had to redirect power due to a fault on the electricity network.

Investigations are still ongoing.
