Former child actor pleads guilty to death by dangerous driving following horror smash on Squirrels Heath Road.

Paul Ballard, an ex child actor and children’s television presenter has admitted to killing two people in the huge car smash in Squirrels Heath Road near the Ardleigh Green lights last years.

The horror smash saw multiple vehicles crash that resulted in the death of 64 year old Eileen Haskell and 48 year old Richard Trezise.

Mr Ballard from Theydon Bois is believed to have lost control of his VW Golf in the car pile up last February. Sadly the victims were pronounced dead following the huge smash.

Victim Eileen Haskell is believed to have been stationary in her car, when she was hit at speed from behind. Whilst Richard Trezise was waiting at a bus stop when he was struck.

The awful incident left locals devastated at what they had witnessed. Eight cars were involved and seven people were taken to hospital as a result of the crash.

Ballard has admitted to causing two counts of death by dangerous driving at a hearing at the Old Bailey yesterday.

One of the witnesses involved in the smash told the Havering Daily:

“After that incident I feel so lucky to be alive, this hopefully will bring some closure to the nightmare for us but obviously it doesn’t help those that have lost loved ones.

“Eighteen months later and it still is extremely traumatic for me, I frequently wake up in a pool of sweat.

“I’m glad it is now coming to an end.”
