A bus driver was assaulted on Hilldene Avenue late last night on the 174 route. The incident happened just before 11pm as witnesses report seeing two males who were believed to be intoxicated, throw a brick at the bus. The area was closed off by police following the incident.
A spokesperson for the Met police told the Havering Daily:
“Police we called at approximately 22:51hrs on Monday, 29 June to reports of a collision between a bus and a pedestrian on Hilldene Avenue, Romford.
“Officers, LAS and LFB attended the scene and found a man underneath a bus. At 22:57, he was removed and found to be conscious and breathing.
“He was taken to a hospital in east London where his injuries were confirmed as not life threatening or life changing.
“Road closures were put into place both ways on Hilldene Avenue and have since been reopened.
“Officers are investigating the assault on the bus driver at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
