Members of the charity Joni’s Army, have donated £20,000 to Newtons Primary school in South Hornchurch.
Lee Brown and Holly, Joni’s mother ,visited the school yesterday and have agreed to donate the money to help build a sensory room for pupils with special educational needs and a wooded area for children to use outdoors.
Joni’s Army are a charity who fund raise to help children and young people access medical treatment and equipment that does not fall under the umbrella of the NHS. They also carry out acts of kindness in Joni’s name.
These acts of kindness have been inspired by Joni Mai Stevens, a beautiful nine year old girl from Hornchurch who at the age of just five years old, was diagnosed with a rare primary bone cancer called ‘Ewing’s Sarcoma. Sadly, after a long battle, little Joni fell asleep for the last time in 2015.
Since then, Lee and Holly have been fundraising and doing these acts of kindness to help the local community.
Well done Lee and Holly, your kindness is much needed in the local community.
