Male arrested for intent to supply drugs.

On Thursday, 7th April officers from Havering Park and Pettit’s Neighbourhood Policing Teams, stopped a vehicle in Chase Cross Road, as part of an intelligence-led proactive stop.

Officers searched the vehicle and occupants under s.23 Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, and found concealed within a specially designed compartment, a plastic box containing small bags of herbal cannabis.

A male was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, and conveyed to an East London Police Station for further investigation.

The male was also arrested for a further 82 bags of herbal cannabis and other paraphernalia found as result of a further search conducted at male’s home address under s.18 (1) PACE Act 1984.

The investigation is ongoing.

Inspector McElroy, Lead for Havering Neighbourhood Teams, said:

“This stop is an good example of great team work and intelligence-led, Neighbourhood Policing.  The stop led to my officers taking a quantity of Class B drugs off the streets of London.

“Drugs blight communities, are the drivers for violent crime, and lead to the exploitation of vulnerable people within our communities.

“Drugs ruin lives and my officers will continue to robustly target those responsible for bringing them into Havering.

“I would urge anyone in the community who is aware of anyone committing such offences to please contact police calling 101, or you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 anonymously I would like to thank our communities for their continued support.”

Well done to our police officers working hard in our community.
