Stop Pet theft in Havering. Dog lovers come together to fight against pet theft.

A Facebook group has been set up in Havering dedicated to pet theft. The group has been set up by Havering resident Nick West after his fears and concerns about his own dogs.

Last week saw a dog stolen from Hornchurch by a suspect on a bike and reports of white vans following dog walkers in the area which has left local residents worried and going out in groups to avoid being targeted by thieves.

Nick told the Havering Daily:

“I was lying awake worried that one of my dogs would be taken on their walk or from our garden. I’m scared to let them out of my sight at the moment.

“I thought this isn’t right and something needs to be done. Dog lovers are a huge community and it’s time we came together to tackle this issue and send a message to these criminals that there’s no way we’re going to let them carry on.

“I hope the group is a place where we can report incidents, share advice and organise together to end this awful crime”.

There is a feeling of fear amongst dog walkers and many are now too frightened to even take their dog out for a walk. Police in the area are pro actively working on this matter and urging the public to please report anything suspicious they see. If incidents are not reported then police are not able to investigate these issues.
