Everyone Active is pleased to announce the official opening date of the new Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre in Hornchurch.

The sports and leisure operator, who will manage the centre in partnership with Havering Council, has revealed that the grand opening of the new facility will take place with an ‘open week on 3rd of January 2021.

Across the week, visitors will be able to get a ‘first look’ at the new multi-million sports centre and have the opportunity to try the new facilities and a variety of activities for free.

All activities will be socially distanced and in line with the new safety measures and any Covid-19 restrictions at the time. Those who wish to attend the open week will need to register their slot online in advance.

Residents will be able to enjoy a 25m eight-lane swimming pool, a 20m wide learning and diving pool with movable floor to change the depth, a 100-station health and fitness suite, sports hall, three exercise studios, including a dedicated FORTIS studio and group cycling studio.

Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre is part of a huge investment in leisure and sports facilities across the borough by the Council, which includes Sapphire Ice & Leisure in Romford and plans for another new centre in the south of the borough.

The new centre will be replacing Hornchurch Sports Centre, where the current swimming pool there will close for the final time on Christmas Eve 24th of December. Residents and visitors can still use the gym facilities there until the new centre is open.

Tom Fletcher, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, commented: “The brand new Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre will be a welcome addition to the town and the local community will benefit greatly from all the fantastic facilities we have to offer.

“The leisure centres in Havering are pivotal in providing a wide range of facilities to the community and we’re passionate about helping more people to improve their health and wellbeing by getting active. We hope to see many new and returning members visit us on our official open week.”

Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said: “After what has been a terrible year for our leisure centres, it is wonderful news that the long-awaited Harrow Lodge Leisure Centre will soon be opening its doors.

“Our leisure centres are very popular with the local community, and this new addition really demonstrates our commitment to providing everything residents need to live happy, healthy lives.”
