East Area police officer slashed with sword.
An East Area police officer was slashed with a sword whilst responding to a call in Lodge Avenue,Dagenham yesterday.
Following reports of a disturbance, police attended the call at 7.40pm and were confronted by a man with a sword.
A spokesperson for the Met told the Havering Daily:
“Police were called at 19:40hrs on Monday, 30 November to reports of a disturbance at a residential address on Lodge Avenue in Dagenham. Officers attended and were confronted by a man in possession of a sword. As officers attempted to detain him, one officer sustained a slash injury to his hand.
“The officer was taken to an east London hospital for treatment; his injuries are not life-threatening.
“The man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. He was taken to an east London police station where he remains in custody.”
Enquiries continue.
