Amazing scarecrows can be seen all across Havering-atte-Bower. From Harry Potter to Henry the Eighth to Boris Johnson can be spotted in front gardens across Havering-atte-Bower.
A scarecrow competition was launched in the area for the first time and was the idea of Phil Date. Phil from the Havering-atte-Bower Conservation Society told the Havering Daily: “I go up north a lot to see friends and they often have scarecrow competitions there. We were due to have a fete Saturday but due to the lockdown rules we decided to cancel it and I thought this scarecrow competition would lighten up everybody’s mood after the difficult period we have been in.
“The response has been amazing and lots of people have come up to our village to see all the scarecrows. In the end we had 15 entries for the competition and around 19 scarecrows dotted about here.“
Residents from across the borough have been up to Havering-atte-Bower to see these fantastic scarecrows that have certainly made locals smile.
Phil added: “Our winner was Henry the Eighth that was made by Brian and Christine Murphy.
“Our two runners up that were highly commended were Boris Johnson by Riann Vinney and family and the BeeKeeper by Roger and Sharon Honey.“
