Jon Cruddas MP fights new incinerator proposals.

The Dagenham and Rainham MP Jon Cruddas has been fighting the proposed new waste incinerator planned for Belvedere.

This week Mr Cruddas has written to London’s Mayor Sadiq Khan asking him to look into the possibility of holding a judicial review into the recent decision taken by the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to approve the Riverside Energy Park project in Belvedere.

Mr Cruddas told the Havering Daily: “The only option left to oppose this development is by legal challenge, so we are urging the Mayor to launch a Judicial Review into the decision based on a number of factors.

At a time of national crisis when respiratory health is a priority, it beggars belief that the Government have approved this. I will continue to fight these plans on behalf of my constituents in Dagenham and Rainham.

Mr Cruddas MP your letter is a hoot,
You conflate emissions on specific basis to those on absolute.
Emissions concentrations cannot simply be aggregated,
And combined effects are, despite your contention, modelled and correctly weighted.
    UKWIN’s biased study is unintelligible,
Public Health England opine air quality impacts are negligible.
Emissions from the plant are tightly regulated,
Selective catalytic reduction ensures NOx are abated.
REP provides a sustainable solution for residual refuse,
Your Judicial Review challenge is nothing but fake news!
