Man turns his drive into a D Day landing scene.

An Elm Park man has turned his front drive into a special ‘D Day’ landing scene in honour of Remembrance Sunday this week.

Kevin Akerman from Sowrey Avenue began getting ready for this moving tribute back in June, building the boat and preparing the the poppies for his display.

He told the Havering Daily:

My eldest son took me to the drop zones this June for the 75th anniversary of the D Day landings and I felt the impulse to do something and parachutes are difficult to build on your driveway so I decided on the beach landing scene.

I actually constructed the landing craft and most of the other stuff in the summer and stored it out the back, so to assemble it all did not take very long.”
