Special auction in aid of hospice.

Today Shelby Harvey is hosting a charity ball in aid of Saint Francis Hospice which is based in Havering-atte-bower.

Shelby felt she needed to do something special in memory of her Nan and Uncle who was looked after by Saint Francis Hospice in their last days, they are a superb charity who deserves all the help they can get.

They cover Havering, Redbridge, Barking & Dagenham, Brentwood and East Essex. They only receive 28% from the NHS so they need to raise £7.8m this year themselves to be able to carry on providing all their services. They include in and outpatient services, councillors, therapists, respite, support workers and many more services.

If you just want some advice someone is at the end of a phone line. Miss Harvey said, ‘Nothing is too much for the staff they really are amazing people. Saint Francis gave my uncle and nan the opportunity to buy a Christmas present for his wife and children just 2 weeks before he died by providing him with a wheelchair as he was struggling to walk.

‘My Nan went in for respite and came out feeling so much better as they were able to get her pain under control. They sent her home with several items for around the home to help make her life easier. She then spent the last 7 weeks of her life in the hospice and wow the service they give is second to none.

‘The dignity they give people is amazing and they really make the whole family feel at ease at such a hard time. There will never be enough thanks to give every member of staff at the hospice for the amazing work they do. So to raise money to help keep up these fantastic services this is the least we can do.

‘We have some fantastic auction prizes including Signed framed football shirts and framed boxing pictures. TV and jewellery and much more, so if you fancy a night out come help us raise money and show your support by purchasing a ticket for the ball’.

Tickets need to be purchased in advance. Adults £25 under 12 £15. Tickets include welcome drink and buffet. There will also be a raffle and auction followed by a disco, 7pm – midnight at Ford Sports & Social Club, Newbury Park, Ilford, Essex, IG3 8HG.
