History was made last week on Wednesday 9th October when the Jewish community was invited to the Havering lslamic Cultural Centre to mark the going out of ‘Yom Kippur’ the Jewish Day of atonement and ‘Ashura’ when the Muslims commerate the Children of lsrael crossing the Red Sea on the Exodus from Egypt, these two dates always coincide.

Short talks were given by Tariq Mahmood vice chair of the Centre and Rabbi Lee Sunderland of the Romford Synagogue about these two events and a convivial evening further strengthening the friendship between the two communities was enjoyed
