Six arrested for fatal stabbing of Romford man.

At 22:27hrs on 14 March 2018, 18-year-old Lyndon Davis was found with multiple stab wounds in a walkway on Arneways Avenue in Romford, just metres from his home.

Despite the work of emergency services, Lyndon was pronounced dead in hospital around 01:15hrs the next morning. A post-mortem examination found the cause of his death to be stab wounds to his lower legs. 

Detectives from Specialist Crime launched an investigation which included extensive CCTV analysis of the incident and the lead-up to it. 

Five of the suspects were arrested in April and May 2018, while the sixth was arrested on Wednesday, 9 January 2019. All were remanded in custody until trial and continued to deny any involvement in the murder.

The six were found guilty of murder and knife offences on Thursday, 18 July following a three-month trial at the Old Bailey.

On Monday, 9 September, reporting restrictions were lifted at court and the six were sentenced as below:

Jordan Worrie, 18, (17.01.01) of New North Road, Ilford was jailed for 16 years for murder and 18 months for possession of an offensive weapon/knife.

Michael Corcoran, 17, (04.09.02) of Huntsman Road, Ilford was jailed for 14 years for murder. 

Connor Corcoran, 18, (04.09.01) of Huntsman Road, Ilford was jailed for 14 years for murder and 18 months for possession of an offensive weapon/knife.

Tyler Jay Faubel, 18, (20.07.01) of Robinia Close, Ilford was jailed for 16 years for murder and 18 months for possession of an offensive weapon/knife.

Ali Ali, 16, (07.09.03) of Dalkeith Road, Ilford was jailed for 11 years for murder.

Jordan Muinglui, 18, (20.06.01) of The Herons, Wanstead was jailed for 14 years for murder and 18 months for possession of an offensive weapon/knife.
Sentences will run concurrently.

Footage played in court showed Lyndon getting off a bus and walking towards his home address when a group travelling together in a car and on a moped saw him and followed his route.

Worrie was seen riding past the victim on a moped before he got off and made slashing movements towards him, chasing him into a walkway. Two of the other males then followed them, armed with knives. 

CCTV then captured the teenagers leaving the alleyway and fleeing the scene using the same moped and car they had arrived in. 

Analysis of CCTV from earlier the same day showed the group hanging around together on the same moped in the afternoon, while examination of mobile phone data showed calls were made between those on the moped and those in the car just moments before the murder.

The court heard that the defendants targeted Davis as he was believed to be associated with a rival gang. 

Detective Chief Inspector John Massey, who led the investigation, said ‘These young men set out that afternoon armed to carry out a fatal attack on Lyndon should the opportunity arise – sadly for him they managed to get to him just minutes before he would have reached his front door.

‘All have denied any responsibility for the murder of an 18-year-old who had his whole life ahead of him.

‘This was a long and complex investigation but I am pleased these individuals have now been brought to justice and will have to face the consequences of their actions.‘
