Back in the 1980s and 1990s, policing was a career people were proud to join. It was a job where men and women stayed for 30 years, committed to their service, their teams, and their communities. Officers knew their leaders, and leaders stood alongside their teams. There was pride, loyalty, and a sense of belonging.
It really is time we support those officers who are out there doing an outstanding job and there are many. It is time those who are unaware of the challenges these officers face, go and witness for themselves what the job entails. The tide needs to turn before we lose all our decent, hardworking officers who are asking themselves daily-just why they are doing the job?

It is no surprise that morale in the Metropolitan Police is so low, or other police forces. They are knocked daily, verbally abused, physically abused, spat at and anything else you can throw at them. Would you do their job?
