Fight To Save Former Harold Wood Library From Developers As Community Hub Plans To Be Unveiled Tonight.

This evening, a crucial meeting will be taking place at St Peter’s Church in Gubbins Lane, Harold Wood, as campaigners and local residents come together to fight for the future of the much-loved Harold Wood Library. Once a busy and well-used site, the library now sits closed—its future uncertain, as developers eye it up for yet more housing in the area.

On Wednesday evening Cabinet Members chose to close three Havering libraries-one of those being Harold Wood. The Councillors had been asked to pause their decision to allow further cost saving alternatives to be gathered and then presented. They didn’t. The axe has now fallen on South Hornchurch, Gidea Park, and Harold Wood library.
