Despite the miserable weather, community spirit was shining brightly at Langtons Gardens as residents came together to celebrate the wonderful diversity of Havering at a special community event organised by Havering’s BME Forum.

The Mayor of Havering, Councillor Maggie Themastoclis, and Dagenham and Rainham MP Margaret Mullane joined residents for a warm and welcoming gathering that brought people from across the community together to share food, enjoy music and celebrate the people who make Havering such a special place to live.

Organised by the fantastic Felicia and her dedicated team, the event was all about bringing people together, making new friends and celebrating the strength of our local community.

Despite the awful weather conditions, residents had the opportunity to sample delicious Caribbean and African food, meet new people, enjoy a dance and sing together in the beautiful surroundings of Langtons Gardens.

It was a lovely reminder that community spirit is not dampened by a little rain, particularly when people come together with smiles, good food and a shared desire to celebrate what unites us.

Havering’s BME Forum and its members do fantastic work across the borough, helping to bring communities together and organising events that give residents the opportunity to connect, share experiences and celebrate different cultures and traditions.

Events like this play an important role in building friendships, encouraging understanding and reminding us that, whatever our background, we all have something to contribute to our local community.

A huge well done to Felicia and her wonderful team for organising such a lovely event and helping to bring people together. Their hard work and enthusiasm are a credit to Havering, and it is fantastic to see local residents, community groups and representatives joining forces to celebrate the borough’s community spirit.
