LADIES, WANT TO PLAY FOOTBALL BUT STRUGGLE TO RUN? ROMFORD WOMEN ARE KICKING BACK INTO THE GAME WITH WALKING FOOTBALL.
You don’t have to be able to run to enjoy football, and one Romford initiative is encouraging more women to lace up their boots, get active and discover the fun of walking football.

Michelle Harris, founder and Head of Women’s Football at Romford Walking Football Club, is on a mission to get more women involved in the sport.
Michelle, who is also an entrepreneur with businesses in the community, property and holistic therapy, has spent the past year working to encourage more women to take up walking football and fitness.
And she believes it can be particularly beneficial for women as they get older.
Michelle says she is passionate about encouraging women to stay active and recognises the importance of exercise around issues such as bone health and menopause.
But it isn’t all about fitness.
Walking football can also be a fantastic way to meet new people, make friends and enjoy being part of a team.
Michelle has also discovered just how many women have a love of football but were never given the opportunity to play when they were younger.
Now she wants to change that.
Ladies, do you want to play football but struggle to run? Why not give walking football a try?
It offers a gentler way to get moving while still enjoying the excitement, teamwork and camaraderie of the beautiful game.
Romford Walking Football Club is now looking for more women to join the team.
Whether you have played football before or have never kicked a ball in your life, Michelle wants women to know that there is a place for them.
It could be the perfect opportunity to get fitter, make new friends and rediscover your love of football.
