Havering Animal Rights Activist Calls for Urgent Support to Save Sanctuary Cows Facing Destruction.
A Havering animal rights activist is calling on the public to help save dozens of rescued cows at an Irish vegan animal sanctuary that is fighting to prevent the animals from being seized and killed.
Connor, a dedicated animal liberation activist from Havering, is highlighting the desperate plight facing Heartstone Sanctuary in Ireland, where a race against time is underway to raise the funds needed to complete essential work and save the lives of the cows in its care.
Connor writes:
At the time of writing, Ireland’s only cow sanctuary needs to raise just over €10,500 (just under £9,000) in order to save the lives of the cows in their care.
The situation began back in 2022, when the sanctuary’s original site in Sligo became flooded due to extreme weather. They had to evacuate to new premises that the founder intended to purchase in the expectation of it becoming their permanent home, only for an eviction notice to be served in August last year.
After years of endless hard work against overwhelming odds, Heartstone finally moved into their permanent home in November, but the derelict nature of the site meant that a lot of essential work would be required in order to meet government standards – if they failed to do so, then the cows could be seized and killed by the state. The final deadline for meeting the legal requirements was November 2025, thus Heartstone’s cows are on borrowed time.
This essential work is now ongoing, but cannot be completed until the funds are secured. Deadlines have been passed, and it’s now a race against time to get everything finished before the authorities turn up to seize the cows.
