Proactive patrols and swift work by Havering officers have led to a man being arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs after a stop in a Hornchurch car park. The arrest came as neighbourhood teams carried out high visibility policing in the town centre, demonstrating their continued commitment to tackling drug dealing and keeping local communities safe.

During these patrols, officers stopped a vehicle and its sole occupant in Sainsbury’s car park. Acting on their grounds for suspicion, a search was conducted under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Officers recovered 40 wraps of suspected Class A drugs, along with more than £470 in cash and several mobile phones.

The male occupant was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and has been bailed pending further analysis of the drugs and mobile devices.

Across Hornchurch and Upminster, neighbourhood officers continue to carry out regular proactive patrols, including in open spaces and car parks, targeting criminal activity and anti social behaviour. This latest arrest highlights the focused and determined work being delivered by local policing teams, even during high demand periods.

Inspector Mark Connolly told the Havering Daily:
“Drug dealing and anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in Hornchurch or Upminster. Officers will continue to patrol the area through extended patrol plans to keep our communities safe.”
