Uncertainty Remains Around The Future Of Beam Park Station.
The Greater London Assembly Member for Havering and Redbridge- Keith Prince has once again raised serious concerns over the future of the long promised Beam Park Station after quizzing the Mayor of London at City Hall.
Beam Park is one of the fastest-growing areas in East London, with thousands of new homes built or under construction across Barking & Dagenham and Havering. Despite this rapid development, residents remain without a railway station, forcing many to rely on overcrowded buses or travel to Rainham or Dagenham Dock to access the rail network.
During Mayoral Question Time, Keith pressed the Mayor of London on whether the proposed station would be delivered, and highlighting years of uncertainty. Residents were originally told the station would be operational several years ago, yet no confirmed timetable or funding plan has been set out.
Keith asked the Mayor: “Do you actually have sufficient funds to deliver the station? We have planning permission for a ticket office, it’d be nice to have a station to go with it.”
The Mayor replied: “Obviously the money I set aside was then, now there are going to be increases now. We need to get this done.”
Following the meeting, Keith Prince AM said:
“Families in Beam Park bought their homes on the basis there was going to be a train station. 5 years since the first residents moved in, there is planning permission for a ticket office but no plans for a station. I will continue to shine a light on this issue.”
Keith has consistently argued that infrastructure must come before or at least alongside large-scale housing development. Without Beam Park Station, new and existing residents are being left behind, cut off from reliable transport links and economic opportunities.
He has pledged to continue holding the Mayor to account until Beam Park residents are given the certainty and clarity they deserve on when, or if, the station will finally be delivered.
