Double the love: Pippa and Missy hope to be rehomed together
Dogs Trust Basildon is appealing to residents across Havering and the surrounding areas to consider rehoming a very special bonded pair, Pippa and Missy, two smooth haired Dachshunds who are hoping to stay together as they begin the next chapter of their lives.
Dogs Trust Basildon is open to the public five days a week, with no appointment needed to visit, meet dogs looking for homes, seek advice or apply to adopt. Staff say rehoming can take time, as every dog is different, and finding the right match may take weeks or even months. Prospective adopters only need to apply once every three months, with the team working patiently to find the right fit.

Two very different personalities
Pippa is a five year old Dachshund who can feel a little nervous when meeting new people. She can find handling overwhelming if she does not yet feel comfortable, so she is looking for adopters who can offer patience, understanding and allow her to settle in at her own pace.
Her best friend Missy, a four year old Dachshund, has a contrasting personality. Missy is friendly when meeting new people and adores attention, cuddles and affection. However, she can be reactive around dogs she does not know, meaning she and Pippa are hoping to be the only pets in their new home.
The right home makes all the difference
Both dogs would suit a quieter household with a relaxed routine. They enjoy peaceful walks and spending time together at home rather than a busy or high energy lifestyle. Dogs Trust says they would thrive in an adult only household where they can feel safe, settled and supported.
In return for time and patience, Pippa and Missy promise loyalty, companionship and plenty of affection once trust has been built. Staff say the pair are deeply bonded and gain confidence from one another, making it essential that they are rehomed together.

About Dogs Trust
Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and cares for around 11,000 dogs every year across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep. The charity also focuses its efforts on understanding dogs and sharing that knowledge with the wider public to prevent problem behaviours that can result in relinquishment or abandonment. We are working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
