Residents in Elm Park were left shocked on Saturday night after reports of a stabbing and a series of suspected drug-related medical emergencies unfolded following a house party at the end of a residential road.

Neighbours living on Elms Farm Road and Fernbank Avenue, reported hearing loud shouting and disturbances shortly before emergency services arrived. One male is believed to have suffered two stab wounds including an injury to his ribs and another to the lower body, believed to be his backside. A second injured person was also being helped at the scene before police arrived.

Residents said that while they attempted to keep groups of young people away from the injured, the situation escalated further. A short time later three more young people were carried into the street by others and left outside nearby homes suffering from what witnesses described as seizures. Concerns were raised locally that the incidents may be linked to the use of dangerous or contaminated drugs.

Those living in the area described the scene as chaotic, with only limited emergency response initially present. One ambulance and a small number of police officers were reported first to the scene before additional support arrived later.

The incidents continued for more than an hour, with some residents not returning indoors until shortly after 1.30am.

Police enquiries are now believed to be underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding both the stabbing and the suspected drug reactions.
