A Harold Hill shoplifter has now been jailed after repeatedly targeting the same local business.

Jake Skinner, 32, appeared at Barkingside Magistrates Court on 4 December and was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison.

Skinner had been identified for multiple thefts from a food outlet on Farnham Road. He was already banned from the venue under a restraining order issued after previous offences, yet continued returning and stealing.

Police say his behaviour caused ongoing frustration and fear among retail staff, who reported his ongoing offending.

A/Chief Inspector Routley said:

“Retail crime is a priority for us here in Havering. Every offence against a business or its staff is treated seriously and the sentence handed down to Mr Skinner will be very much welcomed by those retail staff who have been plagued by his continued and brazen offending. Retail workers deserve to feel safe.”

Officers have welcomed the sentence as a clear message that persistent offenders who ignore court orders will face consequences.
