Wanis Cash and Carry welcomed councillors, business owners, charity leaders and former Mayors for a special Christmas Bonanza event this week, bringing festive cheer to the aisles of its warehouse. The gathering marked the start of the company’s seasonal celebrations, complete with tastings, product showcases and live entertainment.

In the lead up to Christmas, Sanjay Wadhwani, Director at Wanis International Foods invited a selection of VIP guests from across east London to view its seasonal ranges and meet suppliers. Representatives from local businesses attended, including Paritosh Singhee – Senior National Account Manager for Tilda, and Palms Hotel Directors Abdul Hadi and Suresh Konduru, along with faith groups and community organisations. Also in attendance was local Councillors and former Mayors including Sharon Waldron, of Waltham Forest, who have worked closely with the company over the years.

Guests were greeted by the sight of the bright yellow Tropical Sun taxi cab positioned inside the warehouse, a popular photo spot that celebrated one of Wanis’s best known brands.

MET Police Officers attended the event to speak with shop owners about safeguarding and theft prevention, a growing concern for many independent traders as the busy festive shopping period approaches. Business owners welcomed the opportunity to discuss challenges directly with police teams who support retailers in the area.

One of the biggest attractions was the Tilda Rice stall, where staff showcased a range of products and offered freshly prepared samples. Adding to the festive atmosphere, a live steel drum band entertained visitors with Christmas carols and Caribbean rhythms. The music echoed through the warehouse and created a lively mood as guests browsed displays of seasonal goods including cakes, drinks and speciality ingredients.

Wanis International Foods has a long history of working with independent retailers and community groups across London, and the event highlighted its commitment to supporting local businesses during one of the busiest trading periods of the year. Attendees praised the celebration for bringing people together while also offering practical support and product insight.

With Christmas fast approaching, Wanis says it plans to continue engaging with local partners and ensuring shop owners have the stock, support and information they need throughout the festive season.
