Community spirit shines bright at Collier Row Christmas lights event.
Collier Row burst into full Christmas sparkle on Friday as hundreds of residents packed the town centre for the annual Christmas tree lights switch-on. The Romford MP joined families, traders and local groups who filled the High street, turning it into a festive hub of colour, music and excitement as Collier Row officially welcomed the start of the Christmas season.
The atmosphere was electric as crowds gathered around the towering tree, children wrapped in woolly hats belting out Christmas classics alongside local favourite Mark Walker. When the countdown hit zero and the tree lit up in a blaze of colour, the crowd erupted.
Collier Row Road was alive with festive cheer as shops stayed open late, handing out warm drinks, sweet treats and last-minute stocking fillers to families soaking up the evening. Volunteers from local community groups kept everything running smoothly, guiding families, managing the crowds and ensuring everyone could enjoy the night safely — a true reflection of Collier Row’s proud tradition of community-led events.

The Mayor of Havering was there, along with local business event sponsors, to switch the lights on, as the crowd counted down from 10. As the countdown reached zero, and the Mayor pushed her plunger, the dazzling lights on the tree illuminated the night.

With the tree now shining brightly on the roundabout, Collier Row steps fully into the festive season, ready for the weeks of community events still to come.
