During the 5th anniversary celebrations last month, the Metropolitan Police Widows & Widowers Support Group UK held a raffle at their lunch and set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for the Metropolitan & City Police Orphans Fund.

Last Thursday, 20 November, a special event at St Alban’s Baby & Toddler CIC at St Alban’s Church Hall in Elm Park was held and it was a wonderful success.

A huge thank you to was given to Sergeant Matt Atkin from the Elm Park Safer Neighbourhood Team, who was an amazing support and helped arrange for other police units to attend, provided colouring sheets and stickers beforehand, brought police uniforms for the children to try on, and joined the team on the day to offer his support.

We were also joined by a police dog handler with two amazing dogs, PD Dora and PD Kilo, and TSG Officers. The children loved exploring the TSG van, trying on police uniforms, and meeting the officers.

A special thank went out also to event organiser Tammy Lewis’s two children, who sold cakes, sweet cones, and raffle tickets to help raise money.

A heartfelt thank you to the generous local businesses who donated treats:

Le Moulin Patisserie, Hornchurch – pastries

Cakes by Franciska, Romford – cupcakes

Choc Pops, Upminster – sweet cones

Thank you also to Maria, who runs the playgroup and kindly let the team fund raise there and an enormous thank you to all the Metropolitan Police Officers who came along, your support meant so much.

The team also want to thank Zumba with Diana for giving the children a mini Zumbini session!

This was a fantastic fun filled morning for the little ones and helped raise money for an incredibly important cause.
