Harold Hill burst into festive colour yesterday, Sunday 23 November, as the Christmas tree lights were switched on and it was nothing short of A-MA-ZING. Crowds poured in to soak up the Christmas spirit, with funfairs, bustling stalls, stage performances and, of course, the star of the season himself, Father Christmas.

Rudolph was out greeting excited children, joined by his mischievous friend the Christmas Grinch and Father Christmas’s cheerful elves. The atmosphere was buzzing from start to finish.

The afternoon’s celebrations ended with the official tree-light switch-on carried out by Jan Sargent and the dedicated team from Harold Hill Deer Aid, who do truly outstanding work rescuing animals in the community.

Local police officers joined in the fun — as did Havering’s hugely popular Mayor, Councillor Sue Ospreay, who was humorously “arrested” and placed in the back of a police van for being a night-mayor. Just good-natured festive fun, of course!

It was a fantastic day where families and friends came together to laugh, celebrate, and enjoy everything Christmas has to offer. A huge well done to the RM3 organisers — Jan Sargent, Alex Vella, Justin Vella, Ricky Holland and Councillor Paul McGeary, for putting on such a brilliant afternoon for the Harold Hill community.

Well done to our police officers and Mayor for joining in the festive Fun!
