Havering councillors are keen for plans to relocate the Havering Islamic Cultural Centre (HICC) to South Street, Romford to move forward.

The proposals, part of the wider Bridge Close redevelopment, will be reviewed by the Strategic Planning Committee on Thursday, 13 November. Although still at the pre-application stage, the developer will present the scheme and highlight feedback from public consultation.

A council report reveals the project has already gone through four pre-application meetings with planning officers and was reviewed by the Council’s Quality Review Panel in September.

While a final site has yet to be confirmed, councillors have expressed their support for the relocation, recognising the importance of providing a permanent new home for Romford’s Muslim community.

The committee meeting will allow councillors to ask questions and give feedback before a formal planning application is submitted.
