Two-year-old Lurchers Fred and Wilma are hoping to find loving homes through Dogs Trust Basildon — and they’re ready to steal a few hearts along the way.

Meet Fred

Fred is a confident and charming young dog who loves to meet new people and make friends wherever he goes. Full of energy and personality, he enjoys socialising with other sight hounds and would thrive with adopters who enjoy getting outdoors for long walks and adventures. Once he’s had his zoomies, Fred loves nothing more than relaxing at home with his family.

He’d be happy living with children who are comfortable around larger, playful breeds, and would also get along well with another friendly dog who shares his easy-going nature.

Meet Wilma

Wilma, also two, is a gentle and affectionate Lurcher looking for a calm and understanding home. She can be shy at first, but once she gets to know you, she’ll become a loyal and loving companion. Wilma prefers quieter surroundings and would do best in a peaceful household with a steady routine, giving her time to settle and feel safe.

Like Fred, Wilma would happily live with children who understand how to give dogs space when they need it, and she would enjoy having a canine companion who matches her relaxed and playful personality.

Both Fred and Wilma are available for adoption from Dogs Trust Basildon, which welcomes visitors five days a week. There’s no need for an appointment — you can drop in to meet the dogs, speak with the team, and get advice about adoption.

Finding the right match can take time, but the team at Dogs Trust are dedicated to helping every dog find their perfect home — no matter how long it takes.

About Dogs Trust

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and cares for around 11,000 dogs every year across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep. The charity also focuses its efforts on understanding dogs and sharing that knowledge with the wider public to prevent problem behaviours that can result in relinquishment or abandonment. We are working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
