Community Bids A Fond Farewell to Their Much Loved Annie at Hair Care Salon in Harold Hill.

Wednesday 29 October 2025, marked the end of an incredible era as Annie Shelvey, based in Harold Hill, hung up her hairdressing scissors and comb for the very last time.

Annie has been the heart and soul of Hair Care in the Farnham Arcade for over 35 wonderful years, a place filled with laughter, friendship, and countless very good hair days.
Her journey began at just 13 years old, when she started at Rogers Hair Salon at the front of Hilldene Shopping Centre. From those early beginnings to becoming a much-loved salon owner, Annie’s passion, skill, and kindness have touched so many lives.

The little arcade in Hilldene simply won’t be the same without her or without Fay, her loyal colleague and dear friend, who’s been by her side since the age of 17.
Together, they’ve created more than just a salon; they’ve built a community!

Best wishes also come from Jan Sargent, whom Annie “inherited” when she bought the business back in 1999. Jan did her hairdressing training at Hair Care and fondly remembers those days as being “full of laughter.”

Thank you, Annie, for the years of care, joy, and warmth you’ve shared with everyone who’s walked through your doors. Wishing you the happiest and most relaxing retirement, you’ve truly earned it!
