A Green Fingered Invitation To Rainham Residents.
This autumn, Havering Changing is breathing new life into The Orchard, the beloved community planting space next to the Rainham Royals — and they are inviting local residents to be part of the transformation.
Over the years, The Orchard has blossomed into a cherished corner of Rainham Village, enjoyed not only by users of the Royals but by everyone who passes through. Now, it’s set for a fresh chapter and your help can make it flourish.
Rainham resident and passionate gardener Sue Watson is already lending her expertise to the project. “There’s something truly rewarding about watching a garden take shape,” she told the Havering Daily. “Helping to create a peaceful green space for the whole community is a real privilege.”
To kick off the season, a special Autumn Celebration will be held on Sunday 19th October, from 11am to 2pm. It’s a great opportunity to meet the organisers, learn more about the new Gardening Club, and get hands-on with some planting activities. Visitors can help plant spring bulbs around the garden — and even pot one to take home!
The Gardening Club will meet regularly to continue the transformation of The Orchard, and the planters that frame the walkway into Rainham Village. Upcoming sessions will run from 11am to 2pm on the following Thursdays:
- 16th October
- 13th November
- 11th December
- 15th January
- 12th February
Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or just curious to get involved, everyone is welcome. If you’d like to join the effort or share your ideas, please contact Sue at 07395 095837 or email Ellie at ellie@arborprojects.co.uk.
Let’s grow something beautiful together we can all be proud of!
