The Havering Daily, yesterday visited the Romford District Synagogue to chat with local residents. Worshippers were pleased to see that they were well supported by local officers who joined them on the special day of Yom Kippur. This is an incredible community who are very united and much respected amongst the broader community.

The Leader of Havering Council added his voice and condemned the attack that took place yesterday, Thursday 2 October, outside the Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said the incident was both “shocking and terrible, even more so because it is a very significant day in the Jewish calendar.”

He added: “My thoughts are with those who have been impacted by this awful event. No community should ever have to face such a tragedy, and this council stands in solidarity with all those of the Jewish faith within Havering. We will continue working to ensure Havering remains a calm and cohesive borough. This kind of appalling attack has no place in any community, and we hope the police and security services bring those responsible to justice.”
