Romford Stolen Moped Pursued into Hainault As Driver Charged with Multiple Offences

A stolen moped chased from Romford into Hainault Country Park has led to the arrest of a man now facing multiple charges.

The East Area Proactive Team were in Romford on Wednesday evening when they identified a stolen moped. Officers pursued the vehicle as it headed into Hainault, with the rider refusing to stop.

The chase ended in Hainault Country Park, where the driver abandoned the moped and attempted to flee on foot. Despite the suspect’s efforts to evade capture, officers acted quickly and a short foot chase led to his arrest. He has been charged with a number of offences.

The man has since been bailed until his next court appearance. Police confirmed the case will now progress through the courts.

The East Area Proactive Team continue to tackle stolen vehicles across Romford and surrounding boroughs. Officers are urging residents to remain vigilant and to report suspicious behaviour, particularly around mopeds and motorbikes, which are often linked to further criminal activity.
