A resident has voiced her frustration and anger after witnessing a case of fly-tipping in Rainham, where broken furniture was dumped at a local bus stop.

Carol, a member of the Havering Residents Association team, regularly litter-picks across the borough with fellow volunteer Rob. However, she described this latest incident as “on a whole different level.”

Carol, shockingly witnessed a resident carrying a black sack across the road while she was waiting at traffic lights. Suspecting fly-tipping, she turned her car around and watched the individual enter their property.

Outside, two more black sacks filled with broken furniture were left on the driveway.

The bags contained chipboard, screws and nails – a dangerous hazard to both pedestrians and commuters. Carol attempted to speak with the resident, but no one answered the door.

The flytip was reported on line to Havering Council and was collected the following morning.

At 10am. yesterday, there were two remaining bags left on the property in question and when Carol drove past, the two bags had been dumped again at the bus stop.

An angry Carol, decided to knock on the door to challenge the suspected flytippers, but once again, there was no response.

Carol condemned the behaviour, saying: “It’s not acceptable to turn an area into a filthy mess through these actions. I hope the council pursues prosecution.”
