The Member of Parliament for Romford, Andrew Rosindell MP, is one of twenty two MPs backing an Early Day Motion (EDM) calling for the mass deportation of illegal migrants. The motion in Parliament has sparked fierce debate after it was tabled in April this year and has highlighted the political and social divide over immigration.

An Early Day Motion (EDM) is not legislation but a formal way for MPs to express concerns and push for debate in Parliament. The EDM in question, tabled on 24 April 2025, argues that more than one million illegal migrants are living in the UK and claims that their presence undermines the integrity of Britain’s immigration system.

The motion calls on the Government to introduce a comprehensive strategy to identify, detain, and deport those without legal right to remain. It further urges that this plan should be backed by legislation, diplomacy, logistics, and financial resources to make it viable.

Mr Rosindell told the Havering Daily:

“We would never tolerate people squatting in our own homes, and rightly, we would have them removed. The same principle must apply to our country. If someone enters sovereign British territory illegally, especially from a safe country, they are breaking the law and should be swiftly deported. The British public expects our borders to be respected, and it is only fair that those who have come here through illegal means are returned. I was proud to sign and support Rupert Lowe’s Early Day Motion on mass deportations, and any future right-of-centre government must commit to doing this from day one.”

This debate comes at a time when immigration remains one of the most divisive issues in Britain. With services under pressure, housing shortages worsening, and political tensions high, the call for mass deportation reflects a broader conversation about how the UK manages its borders.

While this EDM is unlikely to become law, it is a clear signal of where certain MPs want the debate to go. The coming months may see further attempts to tighten immigration enforcement.

Well said Andrew Rosindell. We need more MPs to wake up and get some action on the ridiculous immigration problem of the illegal immigrants. There also needs to be radical re thinking on so called legal immigration as well. Too many people is still too many people, no matter why they come here. We are at bursting point after many decades of shilly-shallying over the issue. Real action is required very urgently to stop it being horrendous for people living in our Country in the future.

There will be riots soon if the issue is not faced up to and the ‘One in one Out’ idea is just a fop to try and please the electorate (should have kept the Rwanda plan and Labour know it). People won’t be fooled if this government don’t get the issue sorted for once and for all and to the satisfaction of the indigenous population who are rapidly becoming the minority here.
